Going from broadcast standout to ESPN's marquee anchor chairs, Christine Williamson turned her love of sports into a career calling card, proving anything’s possible when your head’s in the game.
From the Big 12 Network to Fox Sports to the Denver Broncos sideline, the success that Christine Williamson experienced early in her career led her to ESPN, where she became a household name. She joined the network in 2019 and now anchors SportsCenter's 6 p.m. ET edition, a nightly launchpad for sports television's most polished hosts. She is also ESPN's Lead Women's College Basketball Host, taking charge of the College GameDay Covered by State Farm. “Growing up, there weren’t many women who looked like me in my current career path,” she says. “I’m happy to be the representation that young girls can see and aspire to be.”
A Division I volleyball player at the University of Miami, she later earned her Master's at Clemson, studying Communication, Technology & Society. It was during her sophomore year that she first shaved her head, earning her the nickname “The Bald Girl” — a handle she uses across her social media platforms.
Giving back is also very important to her, regularly giving her time, talent and treasure to many organizations including Special Olympics and the Hillsborough County Education Foundation. “I want people around me to feel seen,” she says. “I want them to know that the things they are saying are being heard and are important.”
The best advice she can offer is to endure. “Doors will close that you think should be open, and people will tell you that things are impossible,” she says. “When you have a goal in mind and a vision for what you want in life, staying the course and pursuing it will always be better than giving up because it’s hard.”; TheBaldGirl.com; ESPN.com.
