A decade after Marc Newson, the most celebrated industrial designer of a generation, reimagined the traveler's trunk with the original Horizon, Louis Vuitton returns to the drawing board for its most audacious update yet: the Horizon Aluminum, the House's first suitcase crafted entirely in metal. The material is a deliberate nod to history, echoing the aluminum trunks Louis Vuitton built for explorers at the close of the 19th century, now filtered through uncompromising minimalism. Every rivet has vanished. The ultra-thin shell is formed from a single, full-depth mold, with the Monogram embossed directly into the aluminum for structural strength rather than surface decoration. Hinges disappear into the case's interior and TSA-certified locks secure the frame. The innovative extra-wide telescopic handle offers exceptional grip, absorbing shocks, bumps and vibrations for ease of rolling. A matching vanity case, built with the same rivet-free construction, completes the set. Ten years in, travel has found its new armor; LouisVuitton.com.
